Education News that Affects
You and Your Child(ren)
We're helping you "stay in the know!"
No Child Left Behind is the federal act signed by
President Bush in 2002 that ensures each child receives a
quality education so no child is "left behind".  State-wide
standardized tests (Texas administers the TAKS) are
given each year to measure student and teacher
achievement.
The TEA is the state agency in charge of Texas' public
school education.  A plethora of valuable information is
housed on this site!  You can view the state's curriculum
known as the TEKS (these are the skills tested on the
TAKS test) by content area or grade level.  You can even
access released TAKS tests (yes, the ones actually
administered to students!)  Further, you can locate a
district's or school's report card, or AEIS report.  This
report contains testing/performance information, a
thorough profile, and an accountability rating of
exemplary, recognized, or academically acceptable.
You've just got to check it out!
